About Halal Scanner Australia
Halal Scanner Australia is a free, simple web tool for shoppers in Australia. Paste an ingredient list and it returns Halal, Haram, or Doubt with a one-line reason naming the ingredient that caused the result.
How the checker works
- It checks for clearly haram ingredients first (for example, pork and alcohol).
- It then checks for Halal certification wording or a recognised certifier name.
- It then checks for doubtful ingredients whose source is not stated (for example, E471 with no plant source).
- If no haram or doubtful ingredient is found, it returns the all-clear Halal result for that label text.
- If the source of an ingredient is not disclosed, the answer is Doubt — never a guess.
What this site is not
This site is not Halal certification and not a religious ruling (fatwa). It does not certify products, restaurants, or brands. Sample products in the demo are clearly labelled SAMPLE and are not verified real Woolworths/Coles products. Products are reformulated, so always re-check the current pack, look for a recognised Halal logo, or contact the manufacturer.
Who it is for
Muslim shoppers in Australia — especially anyone standing in a supermarket aisle trying to read a long ingredient list quickly — and anyone else who wants a plain-language second opinion on a label.
